Fernanda Oliveira is a PhD student in International History and Politics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and a recipient of the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.

Her PhD research titled “Uprooting Underdevelopment: The International Monetary Fund and Latin America’s Southern Cone in the Post-war era (1945-1965)” examines the first adjustment programs of the IMF in Argentina and Brazil. Her research is supported by several funding institutions in Switzerland and the United States, including the Fondation Pierre du Bois, the Swiss Federal Commission for Scholarships, the Dwight Eisenhower Foundation, the Harry S. Truman Library Institute, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation and Moody Foundation.

Fernanda holds a BA and MA degrees in International Relations from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. She has spent semesters abroad at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, United States.
