Opportunities

Individuals

Are you doing a research Masters degree or a PhD (or applying for one)? Are you an early career researcher, an independent scholar, or an experienced academic? If so, you can join the Think Tank as a member. This will allow you to be affiliated with one of our Programmes as an Associate, Junior Fellow or Fellow. Associates are welcome to attend meetings and can be involved in discussions, with no time commitment. Junior Fellows are more active, contributing four hours a week to collaborative projects within their Programme. Fellows are established academics who want to contribute to projects in a supervisory capacity, often bringing together research teams from around the world, and direct their Programme. When applying to join the Think Tank you must select one of the three positions and attach your CV and writing sample. Your application will be assessed and we’ll be in touch to let you know of the outcome. Research students in the Global South and women and applicants from minority backgrounds are particularly welcome, and we fully subsidise membership for scholars-at-risk.

Are you a final-year undergraduate or graduate interested in a research career? Do you want to work at a Think Tank with academics from all over the world, on some of the biggest problems facing our world today? Apply to our internship programme! You’ll need to check first with your university to see whether we have an existing agreement with them, and if not, we may be able to arrange one with them so that you can access bursaries and/or credit. Our internships are remote, require approximately 4 hours a week, and run for six months. You’ll be supervised by an experienced academic and get a reference at the end of the internship.

Looking for research expertise for your new project? Want to develop something in conjunction with a university partner? Need to partner with academics for funding? If you have a query relating to one of our three thematic areas, we welcome expressions of interest. We use various models for engagement, including simply posting calls out to our members; identifying pro bono expertise, sending academics to your organisation on a secondment basis, and bringing together teams to work on projects, on a consultancy basis. Contact us with any queries here.

Third Sector Organisations

Our Partners are listed on our website here. We are currently not partnering with more charities as we reassess our MOUs and offerings. We will begin taking requests for project partners later this year. If you are a third sector organisation with an urgent and specific research need, please send us a query here.

Government Bodies

We are an independent organisation and are not affiliated with any party. We offer research-based analysis to support policy-making, and have the advantage of being able to bring together expert cross-disciplinary teams to work on topical issues. Please email us with your query.

Media

Seeking an expert opinion or interviewee? We are happy to post your request to our members or suggest experts. Many of our academics have had media training and many write for the general public in the media. Some are willing to write articles on topical issues by commission. Please get in touch with your query here, indicating a timeframe if urgent.
